An excerpt from my up and coming book RACE RECONSTRUCTION AND REALITY which will be finished and hopefully published by the spring of 21'
"We the People of the united states in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the united states of America.
The black identity, which consists of thought, voice and even the humanity of black people as a whole wasn't included in the sentence, "We the people," where a union could be perfect or that justice could be established. Black people at that time were considered property and that portrayal was being perpetuated at the highest regards by our public officials. If the government itself didn't see black people as humans, how could we expect everyday civilians to see black people more than servants, cheap labor, or even significant. Also pointing out in this sacred document which states "secure the blessing of liberty" to ourselves and our posterity. I'm pretty sure that doesn't include any ppl. of color, of course slavery wasn't abolished at this time and it took almost 100yrs. later for people to be emancipated.
It's hard to reverse or eradicate poor judgement or racism, mainly because our country was founded on these principles, which take precedence over equal rights, civil rights, and human rights.
The document is not the problem but the mindset of the ppl who signed and endorsed this document is the problem. the only solution is #REWRITE THE CONSTITUTION.
