Thoughts from the Free World
I am thinking of you. Today. Tomorrow. – Elise
That you are in my thoughts. You are all deserve the same respect and safety as non-incarcerated individuals. This virus is awful. I was very ill as a result of COVID-19 for almost 7 weeks. Much of that time was terrifying, and on many occasions I thought I would certainly die. I am lucky to be alive, and also recognize how the privilege of being in my own home and free to seek medical care when needed likely played a large role in my recovery. I realize many of you do not have the same freedoms, and that saddens me. Again, you are in my thoughts... – Julie
I am praying for your health and well-being. -Tara
There is a God who sees you. There is so much hope when you walk each step of life with Jesus. I wish I could tell you more about Him, but I will let the Bible do the telling. I am praying that in your everyday the pain, fear, and sorrow may surround you will turn into delight, trust, and joy in God more and more every day. – Linda
Brainteasers & Creative Challenges for Today
What's the smallest action you take that could be considered creative? For example, when I make dinner I often pour olive oil in a pan. I take delight and creativity in the different patterns I can swirl into the pan with the oil. That is my smallest act of creativity! What is yours?
Sit still, with your eyes focused on a space on the floor about six feet in front of you. Try to straighten your spine so that your shoulders are in line with your hips and your knees are in line with your ankles. Breathing deeply and slowly, try to clear your mind of every thought except the breaths you inhale and exhale ten times. If any other thought enters your mind, start counting again from one. Once getting to ten feels easy, try counting to twenty.
Can you name all seven dwarfs from Snow White? Try it. (Answer at the end)
Poems & Quotations to Think About Today
“Dreams” – Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
"Magic" - A poem by the Shel Silverstein, the children's author. I hope it makes you smile.
Sandra's seen a leprechaun,
Eddie touched a troll,
Laurie danced with witches once,
Charlie found some goblins' gold.
Donald heard a mermaid sing,
Susy spied an elf,
But all the magic I have known
I've had to make myself.
Some things become so completely our own that we forget them. – Antonio Porchia
Singing is a way of remembering to breathe. – James Richardson
Do not regard as valuable anything that can be taken away. – Seneca
