May 1, 2020: We have to trust that our stories deserve to be told

Thanks to everyone for all your expressions of kindness. Some thoughts from the inside, things I took for granted. Spending time with my family. Driving a car. Swimming. Doing my own laundry and getting my whites back 'white'. Shopping for a 'good deal' on a television, fan, or lamp. Sleeping in a real bed. And more.... I wanted to share this encouraging thought for the writers (inside and out) from Bread for the Journey, by Henri J.M. Nouwen April 29 Making Our Lives Available to Others:

One of the arguments we often use for not writing is this: "I have nothing original to say. Whatever I might say, someone else has already said it, and better than I will ever be able to." This, however, is not a good argument for not writing. Each human being is unique and original, and nobody has lived what we have lived. Furthermore, what we have lived, we have lived not just for ourselves but for others as well. Writing can be a creative and invigorating way to make our lives available to ourselves and to others.

We have to trust that our stories deserve to be told. We may discover that the better we tell our stories the better we will want to live them.

I have a saying ' If you want to learn about the dangers of fire, ask an acute burn victim'. I would like to think there are some of us.

Thanks for letting me share!
