Thank you for all of your concern and advice. It does not seem to be getting better in here due to the inexperience of the staff when it comes to dealing with this pandemic. They also don’t seem to take advice well, and seeing as how we live here, you'd think we'd be deferred to on some issues. Take for instance the fact that when they decide to give us outside rec, those who are able should be mandated to go out and the staff should come in with this bleach filled backpack that they used to come spray our showers with every Thursday, and they should spray the block down, tables, door handles, rails and walls. Do that at least 3 times a week. They've come only twice, during the last 6 weeks and didn't mandate anyone to move. I have written up proposals for them to give out small hygiene packs, because there are 100's of men who haven't had a chance to get to the commissary in 2 months. They are hurting. They can't keep up with their hygiene at all. I sent that to the warden, she told me to take it up with the business office superior. She told me that she can't help us out with anything like that. All I asked for was a bar of soap, a tube of toothpaste, & antiperspirant deoderant. We have a fund that is called the I&E Fund Industry & Entertainment. It's strictly for inmate use only like buying movies, rec equipment, and incentives for inmates. It's replenished with money we spend on our phones, the fundraisers we purchase every month, a percentage of our commissary's sales, our vending machines and the visitor lockers. There is $270,000, and I have the paperwork cause it's public information, and that was as of DEC. 2019. So they have the funds cause that's not included in their operating budget. Then the powers that be came up with an idea to take all the negative individuals out of every block and put them in the gym, visiting room, and education dept. O.k. not a bad idea give us positive individuals SOME space in order to heal. Then today they filled all the beds back up with more positive individuals and in my cell block, for instance, we are all getting better. Then the new people they moved in are all in different stages of the virus. I have had it twice so there is no immunity once you get it and this new batch of guys, some of whom are horribly sick with the worst symptoms, are going to easily reinfect us! I don’t know how to handle it as well as many of the other men I've been living in this dorm with, who've been here before the influx of new, very sick people! Whatever social distancing that we gained by moving out the 6 negative individuals, out of 126, has went completely away moving in 10 very sick people. So we are living in a constant state of unhealthy, unrest, with no end in sight and no real competent leadership. They have actually answered a complaint with this, "We are sorry we are making so many mistakes, we are walking blindly and hope you give us time to figure it out!" That was from the Warden's office. So please keep us in your prayers cause I don't know if I can recover from a third bout with this virus. P.s. I wrote this a few days ago and friday they actually passed out the hygiene packs I requested. Small Victory!:~}
